Charlotte 2016 Food Drive
What do you do if you find out 18.1 percent of your community is living in poverty? If you’re David Parker of E.R. Plumbing Services, you partner up with a local TV station to find a way to get food to the folks who need it most.
Matthews plumber, Dave Parker, has joined forces with Channel 9 and other community leaders to support the 2016 Family Focus Food Drive, a charitable program that collects nonperishable goods from the community and delivers them to the Second Harvest Food Bank. From that point, Second Harvest Food Bank distributes the food to people in need through a variety of agencies and channels.
Of those living in poverty, over 188,000 are children and 41,000 are seniors.
E.R. Plumbing Services has always been committed to giving back to the community. Over the years, the Charlotte plumber has given away free tankless and tank water heaters and free whole house water filtration systems. The owner of the company volunteers almost every week through Room In the Inn, a local program that provides food, shelter, toiletries and showering facilities to those in need. The company staff also volunteers for Room In the Inn, cooking and serving.
This past year, E.R. Plumbing Services has teamed up with Channel 9’s Family Focus Programs to support Steve’s Coats winter outerwear drive, the Ronald McDonald House of Charlotte (providing housing and support to families with seriously ill children) and now through the food drive.
We will provide donation bins at our office in Matthews June 1-12th and will help man the collection day at the TV station on June 8th. We will also ask our clients to donate a dollar to the food drive (which translates into seven pounds of food per dollar – that’s making a difference!).
Thank you for supporting us as we support our community! Stop by our office or meet us at the station on June 8th to give back to Charlotte!
